Tokyo, June 13, 2011 – JCB International (JCBI), the international operations subsidiary of JCB, the only global payment brand based in Japan, is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for the sponsorship of Vietnamese national soccer team.
Through this agreement, JCBI considers building up the excitement of the Vietnamese national soccer team and to leverage JCB's presence by displaying a collaborative decal of JCB logo and VFF supporting partner logo at the soccer stadium hosted by VFF and at JCB merchants.
JCBI and VFF will take this opportunity to further discuss the issuance of co-branded cards to meet the satisfaction for not only the Vietnamese soccer fan but for all the Vietnamese that suits the lifestyle, value and its culture.
Vietnam is one of the key target markets for JCB because of its strong growth and potential scale for card payment market. Since 1991, JCB and JCBI have been expanding JCB merchants in Vietnam to increase the card acceptance for JCB cardmembers. Currently JCBI has merchant acquiring relationship with nine partner banks and financial institutions, and approximately 12,600 merchants now accept JCB cards. JCBI and major banks in Vietnam are planning to issue JCB cards in August this year.
JCB, as a global payment brand, will continue contributing to the development of Vietnam's credit payment market in the future.
