JCB launches "Korea Sparkling Campaign" to attract tourists to Korea, with the support of the Korea Tourism Organization

JCB, a major global payment brand and leading credit card issuer and acquirer in Japan, announced the launch of the Korea Sparkling Campaign with the support of the Korea Tourism Organization. The campaign will run from August 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008.
According to the Korea Tourism Organization, Korea attracts 6 million travelers per year, including 2.4 million from Japan, who come to enjoy Korea's rich traditional culture and beautiful nature. An increase of Japanese travelers to Korea is anticipated as the relationship between Korea and Japan continues to expand both economically and culturally. With the support of the Korea Tourism Organizations and many alliance partners, the Korea Sparkling Campaign is designed to attract even more Japanese travelers to Korea.
JCB started expanding merchant network in Korea in 1983, and has business alliances with BC Card, LG Card, Korea Exchange Bank, Shinhan Card, Kookmin Bank, and Lotte Card. Today, JCB card can be used at every merchant in Korea that accepts credit cards. In 1993, JCB licensees started issuing JCB branded cards, and now over one million JCB cardmembers in Korea enjoy using their cards in everyday life.
JCB will run the Korea Sparkling Campaign with the support of the Korea Tourism Organization, and in cooperation with alliance partners from Korea and Japan working together to attract travelers to Korea. JCB is taking full advantage of its marketing expertise to raise awareness of Korea as an attractive destination through a wide range of customer channels. Sales promotion includes a campaign for both JCB cardmembers and non-cardmembers with prizes of round-trip airline ticket to Korea, and a campaign for JCB cardmembers only offering over 20,000 prizes and 5% off at the Korea Tourism Organization Duty Free Shop, to make Korea an even more attractive place to visit.
